What is otoplasty?
Otoplasty is the cosmetic surgery responsible for correcting the shape, size, and position of the ears. This procedure is usually performed on children to prevent them from suffering teasing and social exclusion during early stages.
One of the main problems this operation addresses is protruding ears. Thanks to precise and well-executed techniques, it is possible to modify the degree of ear inclination, eliminating this unsightly appearance
Although otoplasty is usually performed on children and young people, it can be applied with the same success rate during adulthood. It generally presents very good results, especially when patients have grown up developing related traumas.
At our aesthetic clinic in Malaga, we offer a quick and safe solution to this problem, achieving attractive ears and combating all your insecurities.

Is otoplasty right for me?
Otoplasty is a simple procedure that, in terms of medical requirements, doesn’t present any major demands. It’s enough that the patient is in good health and that the tests carried out by the surgical team show no irregularities.
This means that being a good candidate for ear surgery is not complicated at all. In most cases, it’s enough to have an unnatural appearance of the ears, including them sticking out too far from the head.
In any case, our specialist plastic surgeons recommend that people undergo otoplasty from the age of 5 or 6. This helps prevent children from suffering marginalization among their peers and ensures that this situation doesn’t affect the normal development of their self-esteem.

To calculate the price of otoplasty, it’s necessary to consider many factors. Among the most important are the type of correction each patient seeks and the complexity of the techniques that these modifications will require
Accurately determining all these elements will require at least one appointment with our medical staff, who will quickly determine the best course of action. Expenses include the surgeon’s fees, the cost of anesthesia, and any products that may accelerate your recovery.
It is clear that these costs will vary depending on the plastic surgery clinic you choose. This is generally due to the surgeons’ training and experience in the field of otoplasty
Dr. Yagües has extensive experience in the field and is currently a leading figure in the world of plastic surgery. A guarantee of trust and safety that meets your expectations.
Like any other plastic surgery, after otoplasty, an adaptation period will be required until the final results are achieved. The good news is that the change will be noticeable almost immediately, and although it is not the final version, it usually offers a great sense of satisfaction to our patients.
These partial results will be visible after the dressing is removed after the first week. To see the final appearance of the ears, you will have to wait about 6 months, at which point the swelling will disappear completely.
It is important to note that during the first few weeks, the ears may appear to be closer to the head than they should be. However, this is a situation that improves over time and is expected as part of the healing process.
Within plastic surgery, we can say that otoplasty is one of the procedures with the lowest risk. It is an outpatient procedure and does not present any major requirements regarding the patient’s health
Of course, there are some associated risks that are important to keep in mind. There is a possibility that the wounds will not heal well, that infections will appear, or that the results will not be as satisfactory as expected.
However, none of these risks should be a reason to discourage you from undergoing surgery, especially if you leave it in the hands of a team specializing in otoplasty, such as the one offered by Clínica Doctora Yagües.

As we have already mentioned, rhinoplasty in Málaga will require the patient to spend one night in our clinic. Once the nose surgery is complete, packing will be placed in the nostrils, as well as a splint to keep the bridge of the nose stable and immobilized. All of this will depend on the type of surgery performed
Although our patients do not usually experience pain, many do experience a feeling of tightness between the eyes that extends to the face in general during the post-operative period following rhinoplasty. These symptoms last for a period of approximately 4 days, after which some daily activities can be resumed with relative normality
It’s important to note that the splint will need to remain on the nose for about 10 days, so many people prefer to avoid returning to work until after this time. Regarding sports activities, our professionals recommend waiting a few weeks until breathing is completely normal.
In any case, you should avoid sudden movements, as well as wearing glasses and exerting force. You should also avoid sun exposure as much as possible and follow all the instructions of your medical staff to the letter.
One of the main advantages of otoplasty is its recovery period. Unlike other plastic surgeries, it does not present major complications nor does it require particularly delicate care.
During the first few days of recovery, you may feel some pain and discomfort in the operated area. Our surgeons will prescribe the appropriate medications to minimize these symptoms.
The patient will be able to resume their normal daily activities from the fourth or fifth day, at which point the pain should disappear completely. It is necessary to take proper care of the wounds during this period to avoid complications.
In the postoperative period following otoplasty, certain basic care will be necessary. The most common guidelines are the use of antibiotics during the first few days to prevent ear infection.
During the first week, the patient will need to wear compression bandages to help protect the ear wounds. These will be removed after 4 days, coinciding with the first follow-up appointment with the surgeon.
It is important to be careful not to overexpose the ear wounds, protecting them from the sun and seawater. It is also important to avoid crowds, as this can cause friction that is detrimental to recovery.
One of the most important recommendations is to sleep on your back for the first few nights to avoid friction with pillows and sheets. As always, our main advice is to follow all the instructions of the ear surgery specialists to the letter and to contact them promptly in case of any problems.
